Nausea and vomiting in the morning (or all day) during the first trimester of pregnancy is a common problem, for which there are many natural remedies. He following natural remedies have no side effects, whereas the allopathic medications, consisting of anti-histamines, have been shown to cause birth defects in animal studies.
Maintaining balanced blood sugar levels. There is a connection with nausea and low blood sugar levels, so it is important to eat every 2-3 hours and to have a little protein and healthy fats with each meal. A meal high in refined white food products will simply spike your blood sugar level and then they will crash. When you have a diet consisting of whole grains, protein and healthy fats you are able to balance your blood sugar levels more effectively.
Taking a B-complex can help. Diclectin is a combination of an anti-histamine and vitamin B6. When women are deficient in B-vitamins, specifically B6, they may display with nausea symptoms.
Herbals teas can be helpful, such as; fennel, ginger and peppermint can be helpful. You can add 1 tsp of fennel seeds, use a peppermint tea bag, or grate some fresh ginger into a cup of boiling water. A little honey could be added too.
Get outside. Often going for a walk and getting some fresh air can help relieve some of the symptoms.
Sleeping. It takes a lot of energy for you body to make a healthy baby in the first trimester, so listening to your body is essential. Take this time to rest, sleep and reflect on this beautiful time.
Acupuncture. This treatment option has many research studies showing its effectiveness in reducing nausea and vomiting symptoms in pregnancy
It is a very hard time for some women when they feel so awful. Try to remember that the symptoms are most intense from weeks 8-11 and then taper off. Try some of the above suggestions and seek medical help. Good luck.
